Application instructions

Applying rhinestone designs with a heat press
Lay your t-shirt on the base of your heat press and prepress for 10 seconds to remove any moisture in the garment.

Remove the white backing from your transfer and position the transfer sticky side down on the fabric. If you are not confident of getting it centred by eye use a tape measure to ensure that the position is central. If you need to reposition the transfer do not pull it across the surface of the fabric as you may move some of the stones, pick it up and replace instead.

Cover your design with a sheet of plain paper/silicon paper/Teflon sheet and then heat press for around 15 seconds at 160-170 celsius using medium pressure.

Allow the transfer to cool to hand warm and remove the clear acrylic tape. Check that the stones/studs are firmly attached by flicking with a fingernail. If any appear loose cover with your sheet of paper and repeat the pressing.

It is sometimes recommended that you put a sheet of paper between the layers of garments to prevent the hotfix glue sticking both sides together. It is unlikely that this would happen with t-shirt fabric but if you are using a thinner fabric we would suggest that you do this.

The design can be machine washed (garment turned inside out) at up to 40 celsius or hand washed. We would recommend avoiding tumble drying unless you use a very low heat setting.

Applying rhinestone designs with a home iron
Lay your t-shirt on a flat, heat resistant surface and give it a quick iron to ensure there are no creases where you are going to place the design.

Heat your iron using the cotton setting. Remember never to use steam when applying hotfix rhinestones or rhinestuds.

Place a sheet of plain paper over the transfer and pressing firmly with your iron press each section for around 20-25 seconds for 2mm and 3mm rhinestones and rhinestuds. Double the time for 4mm and 5mm rhinestones and rhinestuds.

Do not move the iron back and forth across the transfer, when you have done one section pick it up and move to the next section.

When you have finished pressing all the sections allow the transfer to cool and remove the clear acrylic tape. Check that the stones/studs are firmly attached by flicking with a fingernail. If any appear loose cover with your sheet of paper and repeat the pressing. It is sometimes recommended that you put a sheet of paper between the layers of garments to prevent the hotfix glue sticking both sides together.
