 | The KissCut process - what is it? KissCut is a brand new patented process that comprises KissCut Self-Weeding Inkjet Transfer Paper, Kisscut Ink and a range of KissCut Foils that, when combined, allow the user to decorate a wide range of textiles, garments and apparel.
What does Self-Weeding mean and how does it work? Current transfer paper technology transfers both the printed image and the polymer coating, leaving a hard square on the garment surface. KissCut papers patented technology means that only the printed image is transferred onto the garment, allowing very detailed images to be applied to a wide range of products without the adverse background polymer also being transferred.
What hardware do I need to use KissCut? Unlike other garment decorating methods which require expensive hardware purchases such as Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printers or large format cutter/plotters, the KissCut process needs only an inexpensive Epson desktop printer and a heat press. Which printers can be used? Any Epson desktop printer can be used with the KissCut system, but KissCut provide complete systems for the Epson R265, R1800 and the 4400/4800 series of printers. KissCut Inks are available in a range of bulk bottles for use with a wide range of bulk ink systems. Do I have to use KissCut Inks? No - the KissCut process is not ink specific. However, KissCut inks are specially designed to give maximum wash fastness to the applied image and are priced extremely competitively. To be sure of optimum results we strongly recommend that the full KissCut system is used. What is the wash-fastness of the image? On a standard value-weight t-shirt there is minimal image degradation after 10 washes at 40 degrees centigrade (100 degrees fahrenheit). We feel that the KissCut process gives the best wash-fastness on the market to date.

 | Can I image to dark garments? The KissCut process allows you to apply images and graphics to white, coloured and dark coloured garments using the full range of imaging and embellishing techniques available with the KissCut process. What is NOT possible at present is to apply full colour images to dark coloured garments. However, you can trust us when we say this is not far away! How long can I store the printed transfer paper? Because of the chemistry involved it is necessary to use the KissCut transfer within approximately 30 minutes of printing, otherwise the paper will lose its self-weeding ability and may fail to transfer successfully. There are variables depending on the colour breakdown of the images but generally 30 minutes should be used as a guide time.
Can I print full-colour photographs with KissCut? No - the KissCut process is designed with commercial garment decoration in mind and is not currently suitable for printing photographic images. Vibrant and very detailed graphics can easily be achieved however. Can I get a sample transfer to test myself? As mentioned above, the life of a KissCut print is approximately 30 minutes, so it is not possible to do this. However, if you wish to send us your image we will gladly produce a printed and transferred sample for you, or alternatively, you are more than welcome to visit us for a hands-on demonstration!
